United's Polaris Studio: A First Look at the Elevated 787 Experience (2026)

Get ready for an exciting aviation update! United Airlines is set to unveil its highly anticipated second-generation Polaris business class suites, and the date is finally here: March 24th. This exclusive event, titled 'United Elevated', will take place in the vibrant city of Los Angeles, and it promises to be a game-changer for premium travel enthusiasts.

But here's where it gets controversial... United is not just upgrading its business class; it's transforming the entire Boeing 787-9 experience, from nose to tail. The 'Elevated' brand promises a complete interior redesign, with a focus on privacy and comfort.

The star attraction? The Polaris Studio suites, located in the first row of business class. These suites offer an unparalleled level of privacy with their door-equipped design, a significant upgrade from the current Dreamliners. And that's not all; the economy cabin has been pushed back, starting only after the wing, making way for an even more spacious business class experience.

United's confidence in the premium travel market is evident with the introduction of 64 flatbed Polaris suites, a significant increase from the current 48. This move is accompanied by an upgrade to premium economy, with 35 new recliners, up from 21.

The front row of each Polaris cabin is a sight to behold, featuring four extra-large Polaris Studio cribs. These cribs offer companion seating and a massive 27-inch 4K OLED screen, perfect for catching up with a friend or colleague during your flight.

In addition to the hard product upgrades, United is also enhancing its 'soft product' offerings. Expect exclusive entrée options and a luxurious Ossetra caviar amuse-bouche service. The entire Polaris cabin will benefit from improved storage, wireless and USB-C charging, mood lighting, and a warm, woodgrain finish.

United promises that its March 24th event will reveal more about its vision to become the biggest and best airline in history. And this is the part most people miss... United's plans extend beyond the 787-9. We could also learn about its new Airbus A321neo 'Coastliner' service, which aims to revolutionize transcontinental travel between the US east and west coasts.

The Coastliner is rumored to feature 20 single-aisle Polaris seats with direct aisle access and 12 premium economy recliners. With United already offering free, super-fast Starlink Wi-Fi on most of its regional jets, we might also get an update on the rollout to its twin-aisle fleet.

So, aviation enthusiasts, what are your thoughts on United's ambitious plans? Do you think they'll succeed in their mission to be the best? Share your opinions in the comments below!
